'My everlasting impression of Tom is one of a lovely, kind, courageous and generous man'
Jon Ekerold

An appreciation of the life and career of Tom Herron, a man who is still widely regarded as one of the world's finest racing motorcyclists.

In 1976, Tom Herron scored a brilliant double win at the world famous TT races on the Isle of Man.

It was a fine display by the young Ulsterman who was firmly establishing himself as a rising star on the World Motorcycle Racing scene and who by this time was already one of the world's top privateers.

Now for the first time in thirty years, Tom's two bikes from that magical week on the island, his  Senior TT winning TZ354cc Yamaha and Lightweight 250 TZ 250cc Yamaha are for sale, and with it comes an opportunity to acquire 'a unique piece of motorcycle racing history'.

When Tom's mechanic Dave Johnson emailed me to say he had received 'a bit of a special photo', I knew that this would indeed be the case.
With Dave and Hardy Clydesdale at his side, Tom sits on the factory 652cc Suzuki awaiting the start of the 1979 North-West 200 superbike race.
Taken by Tom's good friend and sponsor Jim Finlay, it's an incredibly poignant image.
My thanks to Dave Johnson and Jim Finlay.
